Windows Server 2003: How big a company to stop thinking about buying the CAL?

Everyone, thank you very much for watching this! We are researching Microsoft's policies for licensing, and no doubt there are many options ... some even have to be discovered by secretive negotiations! Buyers Small Business Server 2003 CALs have to buy ... There is no way around that. However, large companies can buy unlimited CALs, right? Or leave site? To avoid buying individual CALs? My question is: What is the size limit of the company, which has no rational sense to buy CAL CAL-packs or individual, and instead buy some type of non-CAL license? Where can I make a mistake ... hidden dangers? Thanks again for your opinions and answers! -Suzi

With Microsoft's always a numbers game, and constantly changing rules. Even as a Gold Partner, which is difficult to sort everything out. What might be financially true today tomorrow might be totally different. The best advice I can give is: Shop around ... obtain the best price you can way. Weighing the cost of a single CAL against the cost of the option of an "unlimited". If you are reasonably close, always go the extra. Business growing ... changes ... computers have been lost and added. If the life of your operating system is 5 years or less, to recognize how much it can grow ... how much can change. being locked into a certain number causes all sorts of headaches for the installation even if you do not exceed the number of CALs. If you exceed this amount, spending grows too. Also, once you purchased the CALs, Microsoft rarely gives any price change to go to "unlimited". You end up paying twice.
