List of Software Development
Database development of custom software is facilitated by the use of a standard list of questions to be answered before the system put in place, and before analysis begins. This list is provided to assist in the analysis / requirements phase of a new project to develop custom software.
If you are interested in having 21st Century Technologies, Inc. create a new system for you, then the following list and the associated answers will facilitate the analysis process. Responses can be sent by email or fax us at the email address and fax number at the bottom of page.
Business considerations
1. Date Delivery desired or proposed project.
2. Company business and the urgency of the project.
3. What are the cost constraints?
4. The Use Cases - description of how each user group will use the system.
a. General Business Processes - Web user will buy a product, a user is added to a client, a web user will add contact information, etc.
b. The user input / output - enter site data forms, data is imported, the administrator must run management reports of many, the administrator needs to export to Excel and text, etc.
c. Frequency of activity - several times a day, once per day, week, etc.
d. The activity cycles - Reports Weekly sales to all sales managers Monday morning near the end of the year books, etc.
NATURE OF THE APPLICATION
1. Do you have a desired development tool or technology in mind? You may want to split the application into parts that can run on a Windows computer, while others (such as reports, or log entry screens for hours) is available via a Web browser on your local intranet. Web applications and reports can be seen in all types equipment and operating systems that are capable of displaying Web pages. Some tools currently available to build the system are listed here:

k. SQL Server Reporting Services
l. Crystal Reports - for Windows and Web based reporting
m. ActiveReports
n. Excel
o. PowerPoint
p. Interactive Voice Response (IVR) - Press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish ...
2. In the case of other applications (MS Word, MS Excel, QuickBooks, etc.), the version to use?
3. Screen resolution desired (800 × 600, 1024 × 768, etc.)
4. Screen Size (15 ", 17", 19 ", 21")
5. Preference and size font (Arial 10, Times New Roman 12, etc.)?
6. Target Windows version for each client computer in the system (98, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, etc.)
7. Web Server - MS Internet Information Services (IIS), Apache, etc.
8. The computer operating system in question if a Windows platform - Apple, Unix, Linux, etc.
9. Target physical workstations to all workstations,
a. Clock Speed -1333, 1500, 2000, 3000, etc. MHz,
b. Hard Disk Space - 100, 200, 400, etc. GB
c. RAM - 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, etc.
10. If a network application, network and version? -Windows, Novell 3.1, Novell, etc.
11. What are the letters drive system database back end, if a network application? F, G, H, etc? This reduces the effort in implementing development in the same environment as the target workstations.
12. Where available and relevant, please provide a diagram of routes configuration network access server (database resides) and all clients, security and user groups, etc.
13. Is 24 × 7 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) uptime required? " If yes, explain your business needs. We will discuss further. The cost increases when more time is needed for fishing. It takes more resources - staff pager different computers or redundant components as electricity supply and RAID mirrored hard drives, etc.
14. Is Internet / Intranet access desired data?
a. For data entry?
b. For a report on the examination of only?
c. To disseminate existing documents?
d. To send the notification of pre-determined trigger corporate events (phase of the project has met and approved assessment employees ready for approval, etc.)?
15. Security is desired?
a. Extremely network (Internet) security - Firewall, proxy server, etc.
b. Security Level Database - MS Access has security, but SQL Server has a security model much more closely linked to the win 2000/NT operating system.
c. Application-Level Security
d. Minimum (pseudo) security algorithm - Low cost
e. Please specify the user groups who may have special needs that require different security security levels:
i. Administrative Assistants
II. Analysts
III. Engineers
IV. Managers
c. Business Owners
VI. System administrators
16. Scenarios are backup in place? Backups are an integral component of the system. The importance of it's not over stress.
a. Daily, weekly, monthly tape
b. Daily, weekly, monthly CD or other optical drive
c. On another computer
d. Periodic backups located on a remote site
17. Are anti-protection against viruses and policies in place? It is an element important to ensure that a system is in progress.

19. Documentation Desire?
a. None
b. Installation
c. Username
d. Administrator
e. Software
f. Online help
g. Special
h. All of the above
20. What is the skill level of all users of tools and target environments - Windows, Excel, etc.?
21. Are interfaces with other systems (accounting, payroll, another database, GIS, truck routes, etc.) is necessary? This will affect the data model and configuration, the planning system so early for these interfaces is critical to their successful integration into the system.
22. Feature Verification is waiting for changes to existing data? Which parts of the system will be audited?
23. Is reporting to government or data security needed - Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, etc.
24. Number of reports. A printed copy of the sample or at least each design by hand will help significantly in determining Report price and commonalities (company headers, formats, etc..) Elements important are:
a. Number of sections including sort groups,
b. Define the data source for all the fields in each section and its calculation method,
c. Synthesis
d. Desired output format:
i. Preview Screen Windows
II. HTML
III. E-Mail
IV. PDF
c. text delimited
VI. Excel Spreadsheet
VII. Other products
25. It is ad hoc user-defined reporting, data mining, or analysis (On Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), data mining, etc.) the desired capability?
26. The facility is required to distribute application for many users?
27. This is an automated network or internet installation desired?
28. They are the usual point-point communications needed? This may also include faxing.
29. Special Considerations:
a. D'affaires single rules, calculations, desired warnings, etc.
b. The analysis of meaning
c. Known or questions and potential problems can be relieved by testing
d. Driven by the capacity of voice
e. Multiple databases (Access and SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
DATA AND VOLUME
1. How many users are expected in the system in the other (the first 6 months) and long (1 to 3 years and last) in the long term?
2. How many users are expected to use the system at the same time, during periods of high short-and long-term and long term?
3. What type of data traffic on the network numbers to be short and long term - articles, images, video, multimedia, etc.?
4. What is the volume of traffic expected in the short term and long term?
5. What is the estimated number of data records that are stored in the short term and long term?
6. Do we have to import data from existing files or systems? Note that characters like "" # Have special significance in data processing and conversion, and require special handling code. Names (D'Joy) and other data fields may contain these characters.
a. No such data is usually provided in the database, a spreadsheet or text format. This contributes significant in testing the system and allows for the discovery of the error and error trapping before the system output.
b. Yes
i. It is all or part of existing data needed? What parts?
II. Can use current data is stopped during the conversion data in the system?
III. Is this a conversion of data, or we are obliged to import data from existing systems regularly?
IV. Some fields are mostly white?
c. Are there areas that you want missing?

Unable to print locally while the Terminal Services Session Server.
Win2k3 Terminal Services. Customers Win XP Pro. Drivers load. Could print a few days ago. Settings include "local devices - printers - true" on the client side. Beside the server configured (configuring Terminal Services) connection "Connect client printers when connected" and "Windows printer mapping" is set to true. I received a call that the service does not work. Trouble shooting is very popular.
It seems that their behavior may have been removed by TS. I'd love to see the COM port associated with the printer port (if it reports directly to the PC) and changes in terminal services connection to use com different. TX
