How to make 100% Backup of a Domain Controller?
Hi all,
Currently I have one DC at my office. I need to change this server with a new server. I want 100% replica of this server. I know that I need to install a Additional DC and replicate the AD into the newly installed server. Is this replication will start automatically or I need to do some thing with this? Remember both servers are at same LAN segment. What other precautions I should take before removing the original server from LAN and ensure that every service is available on newly installed server.

As long as you have Windows Server 2003, all the DC's are equal. Just create with the same level of DC, it will replicate automatically & almost immediate. Move the 5 roles (FSMO) to new server. This article will show you how to transfer FSMO

After that you can do dcpromo the old server to decommision it
