start server manager 2003

In windows server 2003, ntbackup hangs and doesnt even start, but shows up in the task manager under services?

It is most preferable to use a third party backup application...

Maybe it doesn't start because it uses a lot of CPU Performance and is set by default a High Priority, and so, freezes your PC...

A third party application would not run as a service, and would use normal priority...

If you don't want to use athird party application, then:
- make sure there is no a lot of tasks taking place on teh PC;
- there is NO write taking place, readis accepted, although it slows down the performance though;
- set the priority to Normal until the application starts, if you want to change it back to High, you may, but on your own risk as the PC may freeze if there is another task taking place on the computer...
