Hi, I'm doing a benchmark using apachebench of my server. Which results do you take notice of - the results when running the benchmarks from the server, or when running them from a local comp (ie over a network)? I'm trying to work out how many requests the server can handle before coming to a halt. The server comes back with 764 for a particular page and my my local comp says 6.

Thanks

A request from a remote machine will use more CPU etc than a request from the localhost, so i would assume it would be best to run it from a remote box querying the the box.

most powerful machine processor today?

What I mean is what is the most powerful processor in terms of MIPS or FLOPS that one could buy today with a few thousand bucks.

I'm trying to determine what a desktop pc/server/or even a GPU can accomplish today compared to supercomputers 20 years ago and such.

also Is there a benchmark I can run on desktop systems that run the same tests on super computers?

The most powerful desktop CPU is the intel Core i7 980x Extreme Edition.

Clock Speed: 3.33GHz (Turbo Mode is 3.6GHz)
No. of Cores: 6
Cache: 12MB L3 Cache
