$query command syntax problem with php (MySQL)?

When I try to make a MySQL query string ("SELECT Name, Desc, Link FROM Site") I get this error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Desc, Link FROM ,,Site' at line 1

I dont understand this at all as this line seems fine to me after checking. Is there a clear problem with the syntax of the line?

I am using MySQL version 4.1.22-standard and php v. 5.2.4
Those are the versions of php and MySQL that the server my site is on uses.

Sorry im not being smart but none of that makes any sense to me.. What is an SQL version 4. 1. 22 standard php v. 5.2.4 .. A rocket ship or something.?

Would it be safe to have people subscribe to an RSS feed with something like ?username=var1&password=var2?

sending authentication credentials in a query string seems to be the only solution I see right now. Does anyone know if aggregators can send POST information to the server?
I'm trying to show content based on credentials.

Never a good idea. Are you trying to show content based on credentials or are you trying to track who's subscribing?
