How to replace Windows 2000 with XP?

I have a Dell Vostro 400 dual processor with XP on it. Today I got a Dell Dimension 43005 Windows 2000 Advanced Server at the Goodwill, It said for parts only, but I thought it could be saved. When you boot it up a message comes on that says "one service or driver failed during system start up. Use event viewer to examine the event log for details"

I have my XP disk from my other computer. what I really want to do is just wipe out this Goodwill computer and install XP. Would that solve the service/driver problem? Or what would you recommend I do? Is this computer saveable? Thanks for any advice!

PS: All I really want to do is store stuff on it and have it as a back up.
I won't be using it for internet access.

yes there is a good possibility that you will be able to use this computer by reformating it. a clean install of xp will solve the service or driver failure. so i would go ahead and try it, you have nothing to loose.

Edit: if you need any directions on how to reformat feel free to email me, i can give you step by step instructions.
