Quad core to 4 CPU comparison?
Can anyone tell me how a Quad core CPU Xeon server compares to 4 physical Xeon CPU's of equivalent speed in a server? I'm trying to size a replacement server for a client and I'm want to know if it would be better to have 1 Quad core, 2 Dual Core or 4 single core CPU's? I know the Quad core processors have a faster FSB, but is that offest be the fact that all four cores have to share the same physical bus off the die?
They currently have a server with two Xeon processors with hyperthreading, which shows up as 4 processors in Task Manager and I want to ensure that they really are getting an upgrade.
Is there any comparison charts anywhere?
